There's a monster on my back
He's large and he's tricky to drag
He holds on by gripping my neck
With hands and arms demanding respect
I gently asked him his name
He said "I am your Past..."
Fear through tears ran down my face
Past laughed and reveled in my pain
His breath sent cold chills down my spine
As he began to tell guilt-ridden rhymes
I tried to plan my escape
He said "I plan to stay..."
If I can build up the strength
Then maybe this won't feel the same
I'll workout and chisel my core
I’ll eat well, ignore the remorse
I swear I'll will you away
He said, "That will not work..."
What can I do? What can I change?
Whether it's inside my head or it's furniture to rearrange this
RAGE
There's a monster on my back
There's a monster on my back
There's a monster on my back
